Skin Food

Ashleigh’s advice on feeding the skin from within….

I strongly believe, a healthy, glowing complexion comes from within. I have suffered with acne from an early age and over the years I have learnt a lot about the strong connection between diet and clear skin. My passion is helping my clients on their journey to healthy, clear skin. I always aim to nourish my body with healthy, whole foods. Below are some of my favourite skin foods

Essential Fatty acids – Salmon, Avocado’s, Chia seeds, Flaxseeds, Dark leafy vegetables. These are something I will include in my diet everyday! Essential fatty acids are the building blocks to healthy skin. This amazing food group helps to protect the skins natural oil barrier as they assist the cells in retaining water, this is crucial in keeping the skin hydrated, plump and youthful.

Berries – Blueberries, Blackberries, Raspberries and Strawberries. I always recommend incorporating berries into your diet when striving for glowing skin. Berries are very powerful antioxidants which will help to shield the skin from free radicals. Free radicals can damage the collagen and elastin which keep the skin firm and youthful.
Water – Even though this isn’t considered a “food” water is absolutely vital in maintaining a clear, glowing complexion. The skin is our largest organ and like all organs in our body, they are made up of cells and cells require water in order to function properly. Without adequate water our bodies simply won’t function at optimum level. Water replenishes skin tissue, ensuring complete hydration of the body. Water will also assist in flushing out toxins that can become trapped in the body. Trapped toxins can lead to congestion, breakouts and dull, lifeless skin so this is why water is essential to maintain radiant, clear skin.
